He became an operating room specialist and served in the Womack Army Medical Center at Fort Bragg in North Carolina, where he met Randi, and then served in South Korea before being stationed at Fort Lewis in 2003.
In 2006, Timothy Miller served in the 47th Combat Support Hospital, 62nd Medical Brigade  in Iraq.

for his service.
On March 3, the Army posthumously promoted Miller to staff sergeant, a status that will be reflected on all military documents and his burial marker.
SGT RANDI J MILLER

Randi (Blanchard) Miller, 25, a 2000 graduate of Laconia High School,
enlisted in the Army during her senior year and spent the past eight years as a medical laboratory technician. She deployed to Korea and, later, Iraq.
In Iraq, when roadside bombs and gunfire brought massive casualties to the 47th Combat Support Hospital, Sgt. Randi Miller helped her colleagues keep perspective.
As she and other laboratory technicians rushed to finish tests on wounded soldiers, she kept their spirits up.
"She would say something funny to make us all think that we're still human and happy to be there doing our job," said Sgt. 1st Class April Summers, who supervised Miller during her deployment.
"She was an outstanding soldier - she always brought us up."
